Museums are one of great destinations for family sightseeing. We introduce a selected museum that we recommend to those who want their children to be exposed to various cultures and to enjoy art together. CHIHIRO ART MUSEUM TOKYO

This is the first museum of picture books in the world, featuring a Japanese picture book artist, Chihiro Iwasaki. The barrier-free museum allows even small children (babies) to spend a relaxing time. You can have a wonderful time through seeing the world of picture books regardless of culture or language, such as exhibitions and storytelling events that parents and children can enjoy together.

Tokyo National Museum

This is Japan’s largest museum, and the one with the longest history. It houses a collection of numerous national treasures and Important Cultural Properties. It has many exhibits of katana and armor, haniwa　(funerary terracotta figures) and earthenware, as well as modern works of art. The museum also holds programs for children.

Miraikan – The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation

This museum’s greatest highlight is the Geo-Cosmos, a display of the earth which realistically projects images of clouds taken by man-made satellites. It also has a zone in which you can encounter a variety of robots, such as androids, and come into contact with the mysteries of space, the earth, and life. You can stimulate children’s curiosity while they move their bodies and play in the Curiosity Field, and in the Miraikan Shop, you can find science-related goods, such as experiment kits.
